A former 1900 elevator parts factory is nowadays one of the hippest locations in Bucharest
The transformation of the formerly unused, derelict industrial site Hesper into Carol Factory (Halele Carol) has many different purposes. The initiators started form the idea end decay and preserve heritage, and find new functions for vacant buildings, without disturbing the production in modern buildings. The work on opening up to the park and street to make it accessible to the public while staying true to the DNA of the place.
In the short run, a step by step approach will help reintegrate the property into the urban fabric. In the long run, the site will be transparent and accessible from the park. The historical buildings will become a meeting point: cafes, restaurants overlooking the park, spaces for culture, events, exhibitions, markets, fairs.
The yard and the main hall of the former factory has been taken over by the Expirat Club – making it a perfect last stop on this tour. By now you camera should be running low on battery and full of beautiful images of the city.
