Although founded in 1990, the Aviation Museum was open for the public in 1993, when enough artifacts were gathered. Nowadays, you can find the museum on the space of the first airfield in Bucharest, in Pipera. If you decide to go for a visit, you will find there documents and objects which bused to belong to the first flights school in Romania, objects belonging to Aurel Vlaicu, the pioneer of the Romanian aviation, objects belonging to Smaranda Bratescu, world champion in parachuting, Henri Coanda’s personal archive and many more interesting artifacts. After it was initially hosted in a series of tents and a year after in a small building at the entrance of Baneasa airport, the museum finally moved in the huge space where it can be found now. The museum also has a professional library of great value.
