Opera park is a picturesque boutique park close to the city center and the Cotroceni neighbourhood. It surrounds the Bucharest Opera House, a beautiful classical building from 1953.
It has a playground, some long and winding alleys and a hidden garden that you may miss if you don’t know it’s there. It’s surrounded by tall bushes, but when you pass them, you’ll walk on wooden bridges on top of a small pond swamped with lush flowers and small trees. I loved how I discovered this place by mistake walking by one night after it was rebuilt and it’s remained a secret between the ones who experienced it this way, it became a meeting spot.
The park is also great for jogging, a very good alternative to the maybe-too-crowded Cismigiu park situated nearby. The park is guarded around the clock by the local police (most Bucharest parks are) making it very safe at any hour of the day or night.
