Theodor Aman museum is one of the most beautiful private residences in Bucharest, built in the year 1868 after the project design of the owner himself, the painter Theodor Aman. It also is one of the few residences which has not suffered changes through time, being the first artistic workshop-house in Romania.
From the project design of the house and the exterior decorations (made in a colaboration with the sculptor Karl Stork) to the interior design: the mural painting, the stained glass, the painted woodwork, the stucco work on the ceilings, the paneling of the workshop and the furniture in the house, everything is a reflection of Theodor Aman’s vision.
The Theodor Aman Museum was open in 1908 and is one of the oldest memorial museums in Romania. It keeps alive the private life atmosphere of the Belle Epoque era, while having on display the painter’s works of art.
